Sec24D Antibody (34.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Sec24D protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Sec24D antibody (34.1) is available as a non-conjugated format. Sec24D, a member of the Sec24 subfamily within the Sec23/Sec24 family, plays a crucial role in vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi apparatus, which is essential for proper secretion of proteins and lipids. Sec24D shows predominant expression in the heart, placenta, liver, and pancreas, highlighting importance in various physiological processes. Sec24D represents one of four mammalian proteins—Sec24A, Sec24B, Sec24C, and Sec24D—closely related to the yeast protein Sec24, a key component of the coat protein complex II (COPII) that mediates selective export of membrane proteins from the ER. The COPII complex, with Sec24D as a vital component, functions as a coat that encapsulates ER-derived transport vesicles, facilitating transport of secretory proteins to the Golgi apparatus. Sec24D shares 50% amino acid identity with the ubiquitously expressed Sec24C protein, indicating a conserved function in protein transport and secretion across species.
