SCD2 Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SCD2 protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SCD2 (H-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 2 (SCD2) is a crucial microsomal enzyme involved in the synthesis of oleate and palmitoleate, which are essential monounsaturated fatty acids that contribute to membrane phospholipids, triglycerides, and cholesterol esters. SCD2 function is vital for maintaining cellular lipid homeostasis and membrane fluidity, playing a significant role in triacylglycerol and phospholipid secretion, as well as cellular cholesterol regulation. SCD2 undergoes rapid turnover, making this protein an excellent model for studying selective degradation of short-lived proteins within the endoplasmic reticulum. SCD2 expression increases in cells differentiating into adipocytes and in certain tumor cell lines, highlighting SCD2′s importance in metabolic processes and potential implications in cancer biology. SCD gene family exhibits variability in number and expression patterns across different species, influenced by dietary levels of unsaturated fatty acids, which underscores SCD2′s relevance in both physiological and pathological contexts.
