SCD Antibody (CD.E10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) in human, mouse, and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SCD antibody (CD.E10) is available in a non-conjugated form, providing flexibility for various experimental setups. Stearoyl-CoA desaturase is a crucial microsomal enzyme involved in the synthesis of oleate and palmitoleate, which are essential monounsaturated fatty acids that contribute to the composition of membrane phospholipids, triglycerides, and cholesterol esters. SCD (CD.E10) monoclonal antibody recognizes a protein vital for maintaining cellular lipid homeostasis, as SCD plays a significant role in the secretion of triacylglycerols and phospholipids, as well as in regulating cellular cholesterol levels. Notably, SCD undergoes rapid turnover within the cell, making SCD an excellent model for studying the selective degradation of short-lived endoplasmic reticulum proteins. Additionally, SCD functions as a key regulator of membrane fluidity, which is critical for various cellular processes, including signal transduction and membrane fusion. Increased expression of SCD has been observed in differentiating adipocytes and certain tumor cell lines, highlighting SCD′s importance in metabolic regulation and cancer biology. The SCD gene family exhibits variability in gene number across species due to gene duplication events, and SCD expression is influenced by dietary levels of unsaturated fatty acids, further emphasizing SCD′s role in metabolic adaptation.
