SAP Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SAP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SAP antibody (C-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Serum amyloid P (SAP) is a glycoprotein that belongs to the pentraxin family, characterized by its pentameric structure and calcium-dependent ligand binding capabilities. Secreted primarily by liver epithelial cells, SAP is present in serum and urine, where SAP plays a crucial role in the immune response. SAP interacts with DNA and histones, suggesting SAP′s involvement in the clearance of nuclear material released from damaged cells, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing autoimmune responses. SAP is a precursor to the amyloid P component, which is universally associated with amyloid deposits in various forms of amyloidosis, including Alzheimer′s disease. SAP′s decameric structure, composed of ten identical noncovalently linked subunits, allows for potential post-translational modifications such as glycosylation, which may influence SAP′s function and interactions within the immune system.
