SAP 49 Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SAP 49 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SAP 49 (G-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SAP 49 protein is a crucial component of the SF3b complex, which is associated with the U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) and plays an essential role in spliceosome assembly. This complex is vital for the splicing of pre-mRNA, a process that is critical for proper gene expression. SAP 49 interaction with SAP 145 requires the amino-terminus of SAP 49, which contains two RNA-recognition motifs. This interaction suggests that SAP 49 and SAP 145 work together to tether U2 snRNP to the branch site during splicing, facilitating accurate removal of introns from pre-mRNA. Understanding these protein interactions helps elucidate mechanisms of gene expression regulation and potential implications in various diseases where splicing may be disrupted.
