    SEE ALSO...

Rhodanese Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Rhodanese protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rhodanese (G-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rhodanese, also known as thiosulfate sulfurtransferase, is a crucial mitochondrial matrix enzyme encoded by nuclear DNA, consisting of 297 amino acids. Rhodanese (G-7) monoclonal antibody recognizes an enzyme that plays a vital role in detoxifying cyanide by converting it into less harmful thiocyanate, which is essential for cellular protection against cyanide toxicity. Additionally, Rhodanese is involved in the formation of iron-sulfur proteins and the modification of sulfur-containing enzymes, highlighting its importance in various metabolic processes. First identified in human red blood cells in 1956 and later crystallized from beef liver, Rhodanese activity is particularly significant in mammals, where this enzyme facilitates cyanide detoxification. A deficiency in Rhodanese activity has been linked to Leber′s optic neuropathy, a hereditary condition that can lead to vision loss, emphasizing this enzyme′s critical role in human health. The gene encoding Rhodanese is located on human chromosome 22q11.2-qter, and red cell and tissue forms of Rhodanese are determined by separate genes, suggesting a complex regulation of expression across different tissues.
