SEE ALSO...

REV1 Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects REV1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). REV1 Antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. REV1 plays a crucial role in DNA repair and replication, specifically in translesion synthesis, which allows DNA polymerases to bypass lesions that would otherwise stall replication. This function is vital for maintaining genomic stability, especially in response to DNA damage caused by environmental factors or cellular processes. The human REV1 gene, located between chromosomal loci 2q11.1 and 2q11.2, is expressed in a wide range of tissues, highlighting REV1′s importance in cellular responses to DNA damage across different biological contexts. As a deoxycytidyl transferase, REV1 facilitates the insertion of deoxycytidine monophosphate opposite damaged DNA bases, enabling the continuation of DNA synthesis despite the presence of lesions. This mechanism is particularly significant in the context of mutagenesis, as REV1 allows cells to tolerate and adapt to DNA damage, which can have implications for cancer development and treatment resistance.
