SEE ALSO...

Reelin Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Reelin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Reelin antibody (E-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Reelin, also known as Reln, is a large glycoprotein secreted primarily by Cajal-Retzius cells in the forebrain and granule neurons in the cerebellum, playing a crucial role in the development of the central nervous system. Reelin regulates the signaling pathway involving Disabled-1 (Dab1), which is vital for proper neuronal positioning and migration during brain development, maintaining the layered structure of the brain. Mutations in the Reelin gene have been linked to severe neurological disorders, as evidenced by the "reeler" mouse model, which exhibits significant disruptions in brain architecture, resulting in impaired motor coordination, tremors, and ataxia. Reelin expression varies throughout development, highlighting Reelin′s importance in neurodevelopmental processes and potential implications in neuropsychiatric disorders.

Can Reelin (E-5): sc-25346 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Reelin (E-5): sc-25346 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
