RECK Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects RECK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RECK (G-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RECK, known as reversion-inducing-cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs, plays a crucial role in regulating extracellular matrix dynamics by binding to and inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) activity. MMP-9 is instrumental in tumor invasion, as MMP-9 degrades the extracellular matrix, facilitating tumor growth and metastasis. By inhibiting MMP-9 secretion and activation, RECK serves as a critical tumor suppressor, and RECK expression is often downregulated in various tumors and oncogenically transformed cells, indicating a correlation between reduced RECK activity and aggressive cancer phenotypes. RECK structure includes multiple epidermal growth factor-like repeats and serine-protease inhibitor-like domains, which are essential for RECK function in inhibiting MMP-9. Furthermore, RECK transcriptional regulation is complex, with Sp1 family transcription factors potentially repressing RECK expression in cells transformed by oncogenes such as ras, highlighting RECK importance in maintaining normal cellular functions and potential as a therapeutic target in cancer treatment.
