RECK Antibody (28) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects RECK in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). RECK, or reversion-inducing-cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs, plays a crucial role in regulating extracellular matrix dynamics by inhibiting the activity of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), an enzyme that facilitates tumor invasion and metastasis. By binding to MMP-9, RECK prevents its secretion and activation, thereby impeding tumor growth and spread. RECK is primarily located on the cell membrane, where RECK′s presence is vital for maintaining cellular integrity and preventing excessive proteolytic activity that can lead to cancer progression. Notably, RECK is characterized by multiple EGF-like repeats and serine-protease inhibitor-like domains, which are essential for RECK′s function and interaction with MMP-9. RECK expression is often downregulated in various tumors and oncogenically transformed cells, indicating that a loss of RECK activity is associated with malignant phenotypes. Furthermore, RECK transcriptional regulation is complex, as RECK is negatively influenced by the Sp1 family of transcription factors, which bind to specific motifs in the promoter region, particularly in cells transformed by the ras oncogene. Anti-RECK antibody (28) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of tumor biology and the potential therapeutic implications of modulating RECK expression.
