RBKS Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RBKS protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RBKS (F-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RBKS, also known as Ribokinase, plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the phosphorylation of ribose, a vital monosaccharide that serves as a building block for RNA. This phosphorylation process is essential for trapping ribose within the cell, allowing participation in various biochemical reactions necessary for cellular function and survival. RBKS, a 322 amino acid enzyme belonging to the carbohydrate kinase pfkB family, utilizes magnesium as a cofactor to facilitate the ATP-dependent conversion of ribose into ribose 5-phosphate, marking the initial step in ribose metabolism. The regulation of ribose levels through RBKS activity is critical, as RBKS influences RNA synthesis and protein production, impacting numerous cellular processes such as growth, division, and response to environmental changes.
