Rab 7 Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Rab 7 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Rab 7 antibody (D-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rab 7 is a member of the Ras-related superfamily of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins, which play a crucial role in intracellular transport processes. Specifically, Rab 7 is primarily located on late endosomes and is essential for the transport of cargo from these organelles to lysosomes, thereby facilitating the degradation of cellular waste and recycling of membrane components. Such localization is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating the turnover of proteins and lipids, which is particularly important in the context of neurodegenerative diseases where impaired lysosomal function can lead to the accumulation of toxic aggregates. Rab 7′s interaction with various effector proteins further underscores Rab 7′s significance in the endocytic pathway, as Rab 7 orchestrates the fusion of late endosomes with lysosomes, ensuring that cellular debris is efficiently processed and cleared.

I am using Rab 7 Antibody (D-4) for Western blot. How do I know if the band I am detecting is specific?

Antibody binding to antigen may be blocked/competed by pre-absorption with the blocking peptide. The antibody can weakly detect the existence while products from Cell Signalling can be 10 times sensitive. I used 1/200 dilution. After checking molecular weight, it even does not recognize the right band.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detect the faintest star in the galaxy of proteinsThis is an extraordinary antibody for detecting endocytic vesicle by Immunofluorescence. I have used the antibody (1:100) for detecting some late endosomal vesicles in a human carcinoma cell line and got satisfied by the specificity of the antibody and the clarity of the florescence signal (see the attached picture). Such a nice antibody, it will help you paint the endosomal vesicles with your choice of colour. So use it as long as you can and get good science out of it. Good luck with your research
