Rab 27a Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Rab 27a protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Rab 27a antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rab 27a protein plays a crucial role in regulating vesicular transport, cycling between an active GTP-bound state and an inactive GDP-bound state, which is essential for recruiting specific effector proteins. Rab 27a protein is particularly important in processes involving lysosome-related organelles, such as melanosome motility in melanocytes and release of lytic granules in cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Mutations in Rab 27a gene can lead to Griscelli syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hypopigmentation and prolonged bleeding times, highlighting Rab 27a protein′s significance in cellular transport mechanisms. Rab 27a protein is widely expressed, especially in pancreatic islets and pituitary tissue, and Rab 27a protein′s functional redundancy with Rab 27b suggests a complex interplay in tissue-specific functions, particularly in hormone secretion and immune responses.
