R(−)-2,10,11-Trihydroxy-N-propyl-noraporphine hydrobromide (R(−)-2,10,11-THNP) is a potent and selective D2DR (D2 dopamine receptor) agonist. It is also a ligand for the μ-opioid receptor (MOR), which is the primary target of opioids such as morphine and oxycodone. Upon binding to this receptor, R(−)-2,10,11-Trihydroxy-N-propyl-noraporphine hydrobromide activates it, resulting in the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. In research laboratory animals, it may act to produce analgesia, sedation, and respiratory depression. In addition, it can produce a variety of endocrine and metabolic effects, including the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the stimulation of gluconeogenesis.
