PRSS50 Antibody (DD-4) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects PRSS50 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PRSS50 antibody (DD-4) is available as the non-conjugated form. Testis-specific protease 50 (TSP50) is a 385 amino acid protein predominantly localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of spermatocytes, with no expression in mature sperm or malignant mammary epithelial cells, highlighting TSP50′s critical role in spermatogenesis. The unique enzymatic structure of TSP50, which resembles serine proteases but features a threonine in place of the typical serine in the catalytic triad, suggests TSP50 may interact with specialized substrates, potentially influencing various cellular processes. TSP50 is often found to be methylated, and the presence of an abnormally hypomethylated form has been implicated in the development of breast and ovarian cancer. This indicates that while TSP50 is essential for normal reproductive function and human regeneration, TSP50′s dysregulation through hypomethylation may contribute to oncogenic pathways, making TSP50 a significant target for further research in cancer biology.
