Prostasin Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Prostasin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Prostasin antibody (C-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Prostasin, a serine protease primarily identified in prostate tissue, plays a crucial role in activating epithelial sodium channels across various tissues, which is essential for maintaining sodium balance and fluid homeostasis in the body. While typically anchored to the cell membrane, Prostasin can also be found in physiological fluids and tissue culture media, suggesting a potential mechanism for secretion from cells. This secretion is significant as Prostasin may influence local tissue environments and cellular interactions. Additionally, Prostasin′s activity is modulated by protease inhibitors like aprotinin, which can suppress channel-activating capacity, while aldosterone enhances expression and promotes sodium uptake. Notably, DNA methylation has been shown to negatively correlate with Prostasin expression in cancer cells, and enforced reexpression can reduce invasiveness and metastatic potential, highlighting Prostasin′s importance in epithelial cell physiology and cancer progression.
