Pr-Set7 Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Pr-Set7 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Pr-Set7 (D-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Pr-Set7, also known as SET8, plays a crucial role in regulating chromatin structure and gene expression through nucleosome-specific monomethylase function. Pr-Set7 specifically methylates histone H4 at lysine 20, a modification essential for establishing and maintaining constitutive and facultative heterochromatin. This methylation mark remains stable and persists even without Pr-Set7, highlighting importance in long-term gene regulation. Pr-Set7 functions as a single subunit that preferentially acts on nucleosomal substrates, influencing cell-cycle-dependent transcriptional silencing and mitotic regulation in metazoans. The amino acid sequence RHRKVLRDN (17-25) is critical for SET domain functionality of Pr-Set7, enabling specific methylation of lysine 20 on histone H4, which is vital for proper chromatin dynamics and cellular processes.
