    SEE ALSO...

PPA1 Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PPA1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PPA1 (B-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PPA1, also known as pyrophosphate phospho-hydrolase 1 or inorganic pyrophosphatase, plays a crucial role in phosphate metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate, a vital reaction for cellular energy homeostasis. PPA1 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm and is essential for cell growth, as PPA1 facilitates the availability of inorganic phosphate necessary for various biochemical processes. Structurally, PPA1 exists as a homodimer, with each subunit capable of binding magnesium ions, which are critical for enzymatic activity. The binding of two magnesium ions is required to activate PPA1, while additional magnesium ions can form complexes with substrates and products, enhancing the efficiency of the reaction. Notably, PPA1 activity can be inhibited by calcium, highlighting the importance of ion balance in regulating function.
