PP1β Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody engineered to recognize an epitope spanning amino acids 295-322 at the C-terminus of human Protein Phosphatase 1 Beta (PP1β), also known as PPP1CB. PP1β monoclonal antibody (C-5) exhibits robust species reactivity, effectively detecting PP1β from mouse, rat, and human origins through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while also showing cross-reactivity with additional species such as canine, bovine, porcine, and avian. Available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, anti-PP1β antibody (C-5) provides versatile options to accommodate diverse experimental requirements. PP1β is a pivotal catalytic subunit within the Protein Phosphatase 1 (PP1) family, characterized by its conserved catalytic domain essential for serine/threonine phosphatase activity and a unique C-terminal region that mediates interactions with regulatory and targeting proteins. Post-translational modifications (PTMs) of PP1β, such as phosphorylation, methylation, and ubiquitination, play critical roles in modulating activity, stability, and subcellular localization, thereby fine-tuning involvement in key cellular processes including cell cycle regulation, metabolism, and apoptosis. Phosphorylation of PP1β can alter enzymatic activity and influence binding affinity to regulatory subunits, thereby impacting ability to dephosphorylate specific substrates. Methylation and ubiquitination further regulate PP1β by affecting interactions with other proteins and degradation via the proteasome pathway, respectively. Understanding these PTMs is crucial as they provide mechanisms for precise control of PP1β function, ensuring accurate modulation of phosphorylation states within the cell and facilitating appropriate responses to various signaling pathways.
