POEM Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects POEM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). POEM (G-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. POEM protein, also known as Nephronectin or EGFL6L, consists of 565 amino acids and belongs to the nephronectin family, characterized by five EGF-like domains and an Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) cell binding motif, along with a meprin, A5 protein, and receptor protein-tyrosine phosphatase µ (MAM) domain. POEM protein is predominantly expressed in the kidney, thyroid, parathyroid glands, developing bone, tooth germ, skeletal and smooth muscle, brain, and skin, playing a crucial role in the development and function of these tissues. POEM protein serves as a ligand for the receptor Integrin α8/β1, which is highly expressed in the nephritic cord and is essential for kidney morphogenesis and development. The interaction between the POEM-Integrin α8β1 complex and the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) is vital for kidney development, particularly in regulating the growth of the ureteric bud. POEM protein has two known isoforms that can form homodimers or homotrimers, further emphasizing its significance in cellular interactions and tissue development.
