Platelet IIb/IIIa complex Antibody (85/661) is a high quality monoclonal Platelet IIb/IIIa complex antibody (also designated Platelet IIb/IIIa complex antibody) suitable for the detection of the Platelet IIb/IIIa complex protein of human origin. Platelet IIb/IIIa complex Antibody (85/661) is available as the non-conjugated anti-Platelet IIb/IIIa complex antibody. Clone 85/661 detects an epitope of the Fibrinogen receptor and is platlet specific; it does not recognize monocytes, leucokytes, lymphocytes, erythrocytes, leukemic cell lines, or fibroblast cell lines. The Fibrinogen receptor on platelets is a member of the integrin family and consists of two subunit glycoproteins, Integrin α2b and Integrin β3 in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio known as glycoprotein complex IIb/IIIa. It also acts as a receptor for von Willebrand factor and Fibronectin. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an α chain and a β chain. Alpha chain 2b undergoes posttranslational cleavage to yield disulfide-linked light and heavy chains that join with β3 to form a Fibronectin receptor expressed in platelets that plays a crucial role in coagulation. Mutations that interfere with this role result in thrombasthenia.
