Plasminogen Antibody (10A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects plasminogen in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Plasminogen is a crucial component of the fibrinolytic system, serving as the inactive precursor to plasmin, which plays a vital role in the dissolution of blood clots. The conversion of plasminogen to plasmin is initiated by serine proteinases, specifically urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), which cleave plasminogen to produce the active enzyme. Plasmin itself is composed of a heavy chain of 561 amino acids and a light chain of 230 amino acids, and plasmin is known for degrading various extracellular matrix proteins, thereby facilitating endothelial cell migration and promoting angiogenesis. This function is particularly important in wound healing and tissue remodeling, as well as in pathological conditions such as cancer, where plasminogen′s proangiogenic properties can contribute to tumor growth and metastasis. Additionally, plasmin can undergo auto-proteolysis in the presence of free sulfhydryl donors, resulting in the formation of angiostatin, a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis that can suppress the growth of both primary and metastatic tumors. The versatility and significance of plasminogen in various biological processes make plasminogen antibody (10A1) an essential tool for researchers studying fibrinolysis, angiogenesis, and related pathologies.
