PIWIL4 Antibody (10G9B11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PIWIL4 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PIWIL4 (10G9B11) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. PIWIL4, also known as HIWI2, is an 852 amino acid member of the argonaute family, characterized by the presence of one PAZ domain and one PIWI domain, which are crucial for RNA silencing and gene regulation. PIWIL4 plays a vital role in maintaining germline stem cells, particularly in adult testis where PIWIL4 is predominantly expressed. PIWIL4 is essential for regulating spermatogenesis and producing primordial germ cells, contributing significantly to meiotic differentiation of spermatocytes and self-renewal of spermatogonial stem cells. Studies have shown that PIWIL4-null males exhibit infertility due to defects in meiotic progression during early prophase of meiosis I, alongside progressive loss of germ cells with age. These mutant males demonstrate elevated expression of LINE-1 and intracisternal A particle (IAP) element transcripts in germ cell lineages, highlighting PIWIL4′s importance in maintaining genomic stability and proper germ cell function. PIWIL4 gene is located on human chromosome 11, underscoring PIWIL4′s significance in human reproductive biology.
