PIKE Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PIKE protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-PIKE antibody (G-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PIKE protein, also known as Phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase enhancer, CENTG1, AGAP2, or GGAP2, is a 1,192 amino acid protein that exists in two isoforms: PIKE-L, which is specific to the brain, and PIKE-A (or PIKE-S), which is distributed throughout the body. PIKE protein is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, where PIKE functions as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) activated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), playing a crucial role in preventing neuronal apoptosis. PIKE protein interacts with several key proteins, including ARF1, ARF5, phospholipase C gamma 1, and Homer, thereby regulating endosomal trafficking and protein coupling events essential for cellular signaling. PIKE structural composition includes one pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, one Miro domain, one Arf-GAP domain, and two ankyrin repeats, which are vital for protein-binding and GAP activity. PIKE overexpression is linked to tumor growth and invasion, while reduced PIKE levels are associated with neuronal cell death, highlighting PIKE′s dual role in cancer biology and neuroprotection.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-166864 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
