Phox2a Antibody (37K-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Phox2a protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Phox2a antibody (37K-2) is available as the non-conjugated format. Phox2a, also known as Arix1, plays a critical role in neuronal differentiation, particularly within the developing sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric ganglia. Phox2a is essential for the proper development of the enteric nervous system, as all enteric nervous system cells originate from the neural crest, where undifferentiated cells initially express Phox2b. As these cells begin to differentiate into neurons, they continue to express Phox2b while also starting to express Phox2a. Phox2b is vital for the differentiation of all central and nonperipheral noradrenergic centers in the brain, whereas Phox2a specifically regulates the differentiation of the locus ceruleus, the primary noradrenergic center. Both Phox2a and Phox2b are crucial for the regulation of endogenous tyrosine hydroxylase and dopamine-beta hydroxylase, which are transiently expressed in neural crest cells, and they are sufficient to promote the generation of sympathetic neurons. Phox2a is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 11q13.3-q13.4, highlighting its significance in neurodevelopmental processes.
