    SEE ALSO...

Phosvitin Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects phosvitin protein of avian origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-phosvitin antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Phosvitin, also known as phosphovitin, is one of the most highly phosphorylated proteins found in nature, primarily located in the egg yolk of vertebrates, where phosvitin serves as a crucial component for embryonic development. This phosphoglycoprotein is synthesized in the liver as a fragment of vitellogenin, a precursor protein found in the blood of egg-laying animals. Phosvitin consists of 216 amino acids, with over 123 serine residues, which account for more than 50% of total amino acid composition; the extensive phosphorylation of these serine residues indicates phosvitin′s potential utility as a standard for phosphoserine studies. Notably, phosvitin′s structure lacks α-helix and β-sheet conformations under neutral pH conditions but transitions to a β-sheet structure in acidic environments. This structural adaptability allows phosvitin to function effectively as a metal transporter and iron reservoir, playing a vital role in supplying essential nutrients to developing embryos.
