SEE ALSO...

PHOSPHO1 Antibody (II-91) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PHOSPHO1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PHOSPHO1 antibody (II-91) is available as the non-conjugated format. PHOSPHO1, also known as phosphatase, orphan 1, is a 267 amino acid enzyme belonging to the haloacid dehalogenase superfamily of magnesium-dependent hydrolases. PHOSPHO1 is predominantly expressed in bone and cartilage, where PHOSPHO1 is localized to the osteoid layer of the periosteum, a critical area for bone formation. PHOSPHO1 plays a key role in the mineralization process during skeletal development by cleaving phosphoethanolamine and phosphocholine to release inorganic phosphate, which is essential for the calcification of the extracellular matrix. PHOSPHO1 is restricted to sites of mineralization, and inhibition of PHOSPHO1 has been shown to impair the ability of matrix vesicles to facilitate calcification in bone, highlighting its crucial function in skeletal integrity. PHOSPHO1 features three conserved catalytic motifs that are characteristic of the haloacid dehalogenase superfamily, underscoring its evolutionary significance and functional capabilities in phosphate metabolism.
