Perforin 1 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects perforin 1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Perforin 1 plays a crucial role in the immune response by facilitating the destruction of virus-infected and tumorigenic cells through cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated cytotoxicity. Perforin 1 is primarily located in cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, where secretion occurs in granules during immune responses. Perforin 1 forms pores in the membranes of target cells, allowing the entry of serine proteases known as granzymes, which induce apoptosis. Perforin 1 has been identified in astrocytes within the human brain, suggesting a potential role in neuroimmune interactions. Various cytokines influence perforin 1 activity, including interleukin-2, interleukin-3, interleukin-4, and interleukin-6, highlighting its importance in modulating immune responses. Understanding perforin 1 function and localization is essential for elucidating its role in both protective immunity and pathological conditions such as autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.
