Peptide YY Antibody (029-01-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects human Peptide YY (PYY) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PYY antibody (029-01-1) is available as a non-conjugated format, providing researchers with a reliable tool for studying PYY. PYY, also known as peptide tyrosine tyrosine, is a secreted protein primarily produced in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly in the L cells of the ileum and colon. PYY plays a crucial role in regulating appetite and gastrointestinal motility, acting as an inhibitor of exocrine pancreatic secretion and influencing both jejunal and colonic motility. PYY′s significance lies in modulating food intake and energy balance, making PYY a key player in metabolic processes and potential therapeutic target for obesity and related disorders. PYY interacts with the Neuropeptide Y-receptor family, which is part of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, further underscoring PYY′s importance in neuroendocrine signaling pathways.

This peptide of human origin shares with sheep's peptide by 67% of similarity. I am planning to try it with sheep tissues. What is the possibility that this antibody works with sheep tissues?

Asked by: mustafa4415
Thank you for your question. We typically look for at least 85% or more sequence identity between the antibody's antigen, and the intended target species in order to expect cross-reactivity. That said, this is a monoclonal antibody so you only need a 3-5 amino acid range to be 100% identical with your target species. Unfortunately, we do not have any information suggesting that this antibody would work in sheep tissues at this time.
