Pendrin Antibody (G-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Pendrin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Pendrin (G-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Pendrin is a crucial transmembrane protein encoded by a gene located on chromosome 7, and Pendrin dysfunction is linked to Pendred syndrome, the most prevalent form of syndromic deafness, which manifests as congenital sensorineural hearing loss and goiter. Pendrin plays a vital role in the transport of chloride and iodide ions, particularly in the thyroid, inner ear, fetal cochlea, and kidney, where Pendrin facilitates renal bicarbonate secretion and ion exchange processes. Pendrin expression occurs in the endolymphatic duct and sac, as well as in specific regions of the cochlea, contributing to the establishment of ion gradients essential for auditory function. Pendrin presence in these tissues underscores Pendrin′s importance in maintaining electrolyte balance and proper cellular function, making Pendrin a significant target for research into hearing loss and related disorders.
