PDHA2 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PDHA2 protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDHA2 (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex, which includes PDHA2, plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by serving as the primary link between glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, catalyzing the irreversible conversion of pyruvate into acetyl-CoA, a vital step in aerobic glucose metabolism. PDHA2, also known as pyruvate dehydrogenase alpha 2, is a 388 amino acid mitochondrial matrix protein predominantly expressed in postmeiotic spermatogenic cells. Structurally, PDHA2 forms a tetramer that includes two alpha and two beta subunits, housing multiple copies of three enzymatic components: pyruvate dehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2), and lipoamide dehydrogenase (E3). This intricate structure enables precise coordination of catalytic activities necessary for energy production. PDHA2 plays a role in cell proliferation and may be implicated in prostate cancer, highlighting potential significance in both normal physiology and disease states. The gene encoding PDHA2 is located on human chromosome 4, which contains nearly 6% of the human genome and the largest gene deserts among all human chromosomes, underscoring the complexity and regulatory challenges associated with this region.
