PCDH11X/Y Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PCDH11X/Y protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PCDH11X/Y antibody (D-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Protocadherins, such as PCDH11X and PCDH11Y, play a crucial role in calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion, which is vital for maintaining the structural integrity of tissues and facilitating communication between cells. PCDH11X protein, consisting of 1,347 amino acids, and PCDH11Y protein, comprising 1,340 amino acids, are both single-pass type I membrane proteins characterized by seven cadherin domains and multiple alternatively spliced isoforms. These proteins are predominantly expressed in adult and fetal brain tissues, where they are essential for the development and function of the central nervous system. Notably, variations in the PCDH11X and PCDH11Y genes have been linked to an increased risk of neurological disorders, including late-onset Alzheimer′s disease, highlighting the importance of these proteins in both normal brain function and disease susceptibility.
