PCBD1 Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PCBD1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PCBD1 antibody (E-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PCBD1, also known as pterin-4 α-carbinolamine dehydratase, plays a crucial role in the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) system and is essential for tetrahydrobiopterin biosynthesis. Specifically, PCBD1 catalyzes the dehydration of pterin-4α-carbinolamine to quinonoid dihydrobiopterin, a vital step in regenerating 6(R)-L-erythro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobiopterin, which is necessary for the proper functioning of PAH. The importance of PCBD1 extends beyond enzymatic activity; PCBD1 can homodimerize and act as a transcriptional activator cofactor for hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 α (HNF-1α), thereby influencing gene expression. Mutations in the PCBD1 gene can lead to an accumulation of pterin-4α-carbinolamine, resulting in the production of 7-BH4, a potent inhibitor of PAH, which may contribute to conditions such as primapterinuria, a mild form of phenylketonuria characterized by hyperphenylalaninemia and the excretion of 7-substituted pterins.
