    SEE ALSO...

PCBD1 Antibody (CD-37) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PCBD1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PCBD1 antibody (CD-37) is available as a non-conjugated format. PCBD1, also known as pterin-4 α-carbinolamine dehydratase, plays a crucial role in tetrahydrobiopterin biosynthesis, which is essential for phenylalanine hydroxylase system function. Specifically, PCBD1 catalyzes pterin-4α-carbinolamine conversion to quinonoid dihydrobiopterin, a vital step in regenerating 6(R)-L-erythro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobiopterin, necessary for phenylalanine metabolism. PCBD1 function extends beyond enzymatic activity; PCBD1 can form homodimers that act as transcriptional activators for hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 alpha (HNF-1α), influencing gene expression related to metabolic processes. Mutations in PCBD1 can lead to pterin intermediate accumulation, resulting in metabolic disorders such as primapterinuria, characterized by elevated phenylalanine levels and 7-substituted pterin excretion. This highlights PCBD1′s significance in metabolic regulation and potential implications for human health, particularly in conditions like phenylketonuria.
