SEE ALSO...

PC2 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PC2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PC2 (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PC2 protein, a member of the subtilisin-like prohormone convertase family, plays a crucial role in proteolytic processing of prohormones and neuropeptides, which is essential for activation of various biologically significant peptides and proteins. This processing occurs at pairs of basic amino acids, and precise regulation of PC2 activity is vital for maintaining hormonal balance and neural signaling. PC2 interacts with cofactor 7B2, which is essential for activation and function, and is involved in processing key proteins such as proglucagon, prosomatostatin, proinsulin, and pro-islet amyloid polypeptide. Human PC2 gene is located on chromosome 20p11 and is predominantly expressed in neuroendocrine tissues, including pancreatic islets, pituitary gland, and brain, where PC2 exists in both precursor and mature forms. PC2′s ability to cleave prohormones into active forms underscores PC2′s importance in various physiological processes, including metabolism and neuroendocrine signaling, making anti-PC2 antibody (E-8) a valuable tool for researchers studying these critical pathways.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear, specific antibody; unclear product nameThis antibody gave us very clean, specific western blots of protein from C2C12 cells. Make sure you are looking for "prohormone convertase 2" and not "polycystin 2", as the name of this antibody can be misleading.
