PBEF Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects pre-B cell-enhancing factor (PBEF) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PBEF, also known as nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (Nampt) or visfatin, plays a crucial role in NAD biosynthesis, catalyzing the conversion of nicotinamide and 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate into nicotinamide mononucleotide, a key intermediate in the NAD synthesis pathway. This enzymatic activity represents a rate-limiting step in NAD production, essential for various cellular processes, including energy metabolism and DNA repair. PBEF is highly expressed in visceral fat, and plasma levels increase during obesity, linking PBEF to metabolic regulation and potential implications in obesity-related diseases. PBEF is predominantly found in the cytoplasm and primarily expressed in bone marrow, muscle, and liver tissues, but can also be detected in placenta, lung, kidney, and heart, highlighting diverse biological roles. Anti-PBEF antibody (E-10) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating PBEF functions and implications in various physiological and pathological contexts.
