Pax-9 Antibody (7C2) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Pax-9 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Pax-9 (7C2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Pax-9 plays a crucial role in the development of various organs and skeletal elements, making Pax-9 essential for proper embryonic development. Pax-9 is a member of the paired box gene family, which is characterized by its paired domain that shares strong homology with genes in Drosophila, known for their involvement in early developmental programming. The importance of Pax-9 is underscored by associations with several inherited skeletal disorders; mutations in Pax-9 can lead to conditions such as Jarcho-Levin syndrome and other forms of spondylocostal dysplasia, which are characterized by abnormal vertebral development. Notably, a frameshift mutation within the paired domain of Pax-9 has been linked to autosomal dominant oligodontia, a condition where individuals have normal primary teeth but are missing most permanent molars, along with potential absence of other teeth. Pax-9 is located on human chromosome 14q12-q13, highlighting Pax-9′s significance in genetic studies related to dental and skeletal anomalies.

Can sc-56823: Pax-9 (7C2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-56823: Pax-9 (7C2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
