PAcP Antibody (PAP03) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects prostatic acid phosphatase (PAcP) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). PAcP plays a crucial role as a neutral protein-tyrosine phosphatase, primarily functioning in the prostate epithelium where PAcP regulates cell growth and differentiation. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate, a process vital for maintaining cellular signaling and metabolic balance within prostate cells. Notably, PAcP is synthesized under androgen regulation, and PAcP′s stimulated secretion serves as a hallmark of androgen action on human prostate epithelial cells, making PAcP an important biomarker for assessing prostatic tissue health. Furthermore, cellular PAcP has been shown to down-regulate prostate cancer cell growth by dephosphorylating c-ErbB-2/neu, indicating that decreased expression of PAcP in cancer cells may contribute to prostate cancer progression. PAcP is encoded by the human ACPP gene, located on chromosome 3q21-q23, highlighting PAcP′s significance in both normal prostate function and disease states.
