SEE ALSO...

p38IP Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects p38IP of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p38IP (C-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. p38IP, also known as C13, FP757, SPT20, FAM48A, C13orf19, or SUPT20H, is a 779 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular signaling by interacting with p38 MAP kinase, which is essential for the downregulation of E-cadherin during gastrulation. This process is vital for proper embryonic development, as E-cadherin is a key protein involved in cell adhesion and maintaining tissue integrity. p38IP is predominantly expressed in the testis and shows moderate expression levels in the brain and pituitary gland, while also being present in several fetal tissues such as the lung, brain, thymus, and kidney. p38IP expression has been found to be downregulated in malignant prostate tissues, suggesting a potential role as a tumor suppressor. The gene encoding p38IP is located on human chromosome 13, which contains over 400 genes and is significant for housing key tumor suppressor genes, including BRCA2 and RB1, highlighting the importance of p38IP in both normal physiology and disease states.
