p19 INK4D Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects p19 INK4D in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p19 INK4D plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle by specifically inhibiting the kinase activities of cyclin-dependent kinases Cdk4 and Cdk6, which are essential for the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase of the cell cycle. This inhibition helps prevent uncontrolled cell proliferation, a hallmark of cancer. p19 INK4D expression is maximized during the S phase, and p19 INK4D overexpression can lead to G1 arrest, highlighting potential tumor suppressor properties. The gene encoding p19 INK4D is located on chromosome 9p21.3, a region frequently associated with chromosomal abnormalities in various human tumors, further underscoring p19 INK4D significance in cancer biology. With an ability to modulate cell cycle progression, p19 INK4D serves as a vital component in maintaining cellular homeostasis and offers insights into therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.
