SEE ALSO...

p14 ARF Antibody (DCS-240) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects p14 ARF of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). p14 ARF monoclonal antibody (DCS-240) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. p14 ARF (DCS-240) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle by acting as a tumor suppressor, which is vital for maintaining cellular integrity and preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation. p14 ARF is encoded by the CDKN2A gene, which also produces p16 protein, and interacts with MDM2, a negative regulator of the p53 tumor suppressor pathway. By binding to MDM2, p14 ARF stabilizes p53 levels, leading to increased expression of p21 and subsequent cell cycle arrest in both G1 and G2/M phases. This regulatory mechanism is essential for preventing tumorigenesis, as damaged cells do not continue to divide. p14 ARF′s ability to modulate these critical pathways highlights anti-p14 ARF antibody (DCS-240)′s importance in research focused on cell cycle regulation and tumor suppression.

I would like to know if p14ARF antibody (DCS-240) is better diluted in milk or BSA 5%. Thank you!

Asked by: Gpb27
Thank you for your question. Ideal blocking conditions are dependent on a variety of different factors. If your western blots show a lot of background, milk will provide a broader blocking effect, while a BSA-based blocking buffer will prevent overblocking of weaker signals.

Is this antibody specific for p14 instead of p16 or can it detect both p14 and p16 from human cells? Thank you!

Asked by: Mai Xu

I would like to use p14 ARF Antibody (DCS-240): sc-53639 for double staining with another mouse monoclonal primary antibody. Is this possible?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. In cases like this, we recommend using our directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibodies. Currently, sc-53639 is not available directly conjugated, but we have an alternative p14 ARF antibody (sc-53392) that is available conjugated to HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488 and Alexa Fluor® 647. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact our Technical Service department by calling 800-457-3801 option 2, emailing scbt@scbt.com, or using the Live Chat function on our website.
