p-MEF-2 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ser 387 phosphorylated MEF-2C in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p-MEF-2 (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MEF-2C, a member of the MADS box family of transcription factors, plays a crucial role in muscle development by binding to specific DNA sequences in the regulatory regions of muscle-specific genes, thereby influencing their expression. MEF-2C is predominantly found in skeletal and cardiac muscle cells, where MEF-2C activity is modulated by phosphorylation at Ser 387, a modification that enhances transactivation potential. This phosphorylation is facilitated by Big MAP kinase 1 (BMK1) and p38 MAPK, which are activated in response to various stimuli, including serum. MEF-2C interaction with these kinases is essential for cooperative signaling between Smad proteins and MEF-2, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in regulating gene expression during muscle differentiation and development.
