SEE ALSO...

Otoferlin Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Otoferlin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Otoferlin antibody (C-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Otoferlin is a single-pass type II membrane protein composed of 1,230 amino acid residues and exists in four isoforms, with isoform 1 being the full-length version and isoforms 2-4 representing shorter variants. Expression of isoforms 1 and 3 is primarily found in the adult brain, while isoform 2 is expressed in a variety of tissues, including the fetus, adult brain, heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, and kidney. Notably, Otoferlin contains three C2 domains and a single carboxy-terminal transmembrane domain, which are crucial for calcium-triggered synaptic vesicle-plasma membrane fusion, a process essential for neurotransmitter release. The Otoferlin gene, OTOF, is located at 2p23-p22, with its 5′ region being centromeric, and mutations in this gene have been linked to auditory processing disorders, highlighting Otoferlin′s importance in hearing. Otoferlin (C-12) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying synaptic function and the molecular mechanisms underlying deafness.
