OSMR β Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects OSMR beta protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-OSMR beta antibody (C-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. OSMR beta protein plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of Oncostatin M (OSM), a glycoprotein that inhibits the growth of various human tumor cell lines while sparing normal human fibroblasts. This selective inhibition is vital for potential therapeutic applications in cancer treatment, as OSM can target malignant cells without adversely affecting normal tissue. OSMR beta is predominantly expressed in activated monocytic and lymphocytic cell lines, as well as in normal adherent macrophages, highlighting its importance in immune responses and inflammation. Additionally, OSMR beta′s amino acid sequence shows homology with other key cytokines such as leukemia inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6, all involved in the growth and differentiation of various cell types, particularly those of hematopoietic origin. This functional interplay underscores OSMR beta′s relevance in both normal physiology and pathological conditions, making OSMR beta (C-12) antibody an essential tool for researchers studying these processes.

OSMR is a membrane protein. Should I specifically extract the membrane protein? If using whole cell lysate, do you have detailed steps for the preparation? Thanks.

I am using OSMR β (C-12): sc-376511 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
