SEE ALSO...

OMG Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects OMG protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-OMG antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein (OMG, OMgp) plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the adult central nervous system (CNS) as a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein expressed by neurons and oligodendrocytes. OMG is primarily located in the myelin sheath, where OMG is essential for proper formation and maintenance of this structure, which insulates nerve fibers and facilitates efficient signal transmission. OMG′s presence in the myelin sheath is vital for CNS integrity, as OMG helps regulate interactions between oligodendrocytes and axons, influencing myelination and neuronal health. Furthermore, OMG′s interaction with the Nogo receptor is significant, as OMG inhibits neurite outgrowth, which is critical for preventing excessive neuronal regeneration in the adult CNS. This function is mediated by OMG′s leucine-rich repeat domain, a highly conserved region that is integral to OMG′s role in cell proliferation and myelin sheath maintenance. With diverse applications and essential biological functions, OMG monoclonal antibody (E-8) serves as a valuable tool for researchers studying myelination and neuronal development.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with OMG (E-8): sc-271704?

Asked by: jenniferc
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
