Oct-6 Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Oct-6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Oct-6 (B-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Oct-6 protein, also known as SCIP or Tst-1, plays a crucial role in the development of the peripheral nervous system, particularly in Schwann cell differentiation. Oct-6 is predominantly expressed in late embryonic Schwann cells and remains present in nonmyelinating Schwann cells in adults. Oct-6 functions as a transcriptional regulator essential for timely differentiation of promyelin cells into myelinating cells, a process critical for proper nerve function. Oct-6 is involved in downregulating its own gene during myelination, ensuring efficient myelination process. c-Myc has been shown to interact with Oct-6 POU domain, potentially contributing to myelin disease pathogenesis in mammalian central nervous system. This interaction highlights Oct-6 significance in normal development and neurological disorders, making anti-Oct-6 antibody (B-7) a valuable tool for researchers studying these processes.

Can Oct-6 (B-7): sc-376143 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, Oct-6 (B-7): sc-376143 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Recognizes another proteinI have generated an Oct6 KO cell line and this antibody continued to present the band in a WB. I later used another antibody from other company and did not display the band. Thus, this AB is recognizing something else.
