Oct-6 Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Oct-6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Oct-6 (B-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Oct-6 protein, also known as SCIP or Tst-1, plays a crucial role in the development of the peripheral nervous system, particularly in Schwann cell differentiation. Oct-6 is predominantly expressed in late embryonic Schwann cells and remains present in nonmyelinating Schwann cells in adults. Oct-6 functions as a transcriptional regulator essential for timely differentiation of promyelin cells into myelinating cells, a process critical for proper nerve function. Oct-6 is involved in downregulating its own gene during myelination, ensuring efficient myelination process. c-Myc has been shown to interact with Oct-6 POU domain, potentially contributing to myelin disease pathogenesis in mammalian central nervous system.
