NTCP Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects NTCP of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NTCP Antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NTCP, or Na(+)/taurocholate transport protein, also known as SLC10A1, is a 349 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that is crucial for the hepatic sodium/bile acid uptake system. This protein is localized to the basolateral membranes of hepatocytes, where NTCP functions as a substrate-specific, sodium-dependent transporter for bile acids and other organic compounds. NTCP plays a vital role in maintaining bile acid homeostasis and facilitating the reabsorption of bile acids from the intestine, which is essential for digestion and absorption of dietary fats. Dysregulation of NTCP can lead to various liver diseases and metabolic disorders, highlighting NTCP′s significance in both physiological and pathological processes. The gene encoding NTCP is located on human chromosome 14, which houses over 700 genes, including those associated with critical conditions such as Alzheimer′s disease and α1-antitrypsin deficiency.
