NRAMP 1 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects NRAMP 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-NRAMP 1 antibody (E-2) is available as non-conjugated. Natural resistance associated macrophage proteins (NRAMPs) are integral membrane proteins that play a crucial role in immune response by regulating metal ion transport. NRAMP 1 is located at phagosomal membrane of macrophages, where NRAMP 1 functions as a divalent cation transporter for essential metal ions such as Fe2+, Zn2+, and Mn2+. NRAMP 1 operates as a pH-dependent antiporter, facilitating movement of metal ions into or out of phagosome against a proton gradient, which is vital for maintaining metal homeostasis during immune responses. Polymorphisms in NRAMP 1 gene have been associated with increased susceptibility to infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and leprosy in humans, highlighting NRAMP 1′s significance in host defense mechanisms. NRAMP 2, another member of NRAMP family, is expressed in various tissues and plays a role in dietary iron absorption, with NRAMP 2 expression regulated by iron levels in duodenum.
