SEE ALSO...

NIS Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects NIS protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-NIS antibody (G-5) is available as the non-conjugated form. The sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein crucial for active iodide transport, primarily in the thyroid gland, but also in salivary glands, gastric mucosa, and lactating mammary gland. NIS localization in the plasma membrane facilitates iodide uptake, essential for synthesizing thyroid hormones that regulate metabolism, growth, and development. In lactating mammary gland, NIS plays a significant role by transporting iodide into milk, providing nursing infants with necessary iodide for their own thyroid hormone production. NIS expression is altered in various cancers; while expressed in some breast cancers, NIS levels are often reduced in most thyroid cancers, likely due to changes in binding activity of transcription factors such as AP2 and Sp1 to NIS promoter. NIS serves as a prerequisite for effective radioiodide treatment of thyroid cancer and a promising target for diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in breast cancer.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-514487 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
