Nidogen Antibody (ELM1) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Nidogen of mouse origin by immunofluorescence (IF) and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Nidogen (ELM1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nidogen, also known as Entactin, is a crucial sulfated glycoprotein that plays a significant role in the structural integrity of basement membranes, which are essential extracellular matrices formed during embryogenesis. These membranes serve as a scaffold for various cellular components, including laminins and collagen IV, facilitating proper tissue organization and function. The interaction of Nidogen with laminin and collagen IV is vital for the assembly and stability of basement membranes, which are critical for processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation. Notably, Nidogen is highly conserved across species and exists in two isoforms, with Nidogen-2 exhibiting extensive N- and O-glycosylation. This post-translational modification influences Nidogen′s interactions with other extracellular matrix components, such as collagen types I and IV, and perlecan, thereby enhancing the structural and functional properties of the basement membrane. Nidogen is predominantly expressed in fully developed basement membranes of ectodermal origin during embryonic and fetal development, highlighting its specific role in tissue formation and maintenance.
